Updates for SolidSteel parametric and DSTV Assistant

We're excited to announce new updates for both Apps for Autodesk Inventor: DSTV Assistant 1.3.0 and SolidSteel parametric 2.3.0.

A major focus of this release is the continued refinement of the user experience. Both apps receive an overhauled Settings dialog, delivering a more consistent look and feel across all configuration options.

SolidSteel parametric 2.3.0 brings a wide range of powerful new capabilities. The drawing module has been significantly extended, with reworked template management, configurable part lists, and new support for managing different sheet sizes, orientations, and layouts. Custom Connections have been further enhanced with batch build support for a broad set of connection and cut types, as well as improved validation to ensure connection references form a closed system before learning. Additional highlights include a new Assembly Analysis dialog for detecting interferences and missing connections, expanded flexibility for stair modeling, and improved fastener handling at the assembly level.

Stairs: Flexible Organization of Stair Step Components (SolidSteel parametric)

Stair modeling has been made more flexible in SolidSteel parametric 2.3.0. The individual components making up each stair step can now be organized either as individual assemblies or as multi-body parts – depending on which approach better suits the respective project or downstream manufacturing process. In addition, automatic borehole creation can now be selectively suppressed, which is particularly useful in designs where boreholes are to be defined manually or at a later stage.

New Assembly Analysis Dialog (SolidSteel parametric)

The new Assembly Analysis dialog provides a quick and clear way to inspect an entire assembly for interferences and potentially missing connections. In complex steel structures with many individual parts and connections, it is easy for individual joints to be overlooked. The new dialog creates transparency and helps identify such gaps early – before they cause issues during manufacturing or export.

AI-Connect for Standard Connections and Cuts – Endplate Example (SolidSteel parametric)

The AI-Connect feature, already known from Custom Connections in SolidSteel parametric, enables connections to be defined and reused automatically across projects. Previously, using AI-Connect required the connection to be saved to the database first. With version 2.3.0, this prerequisite has been removed: AI-Connect can now be used directly and without prior saving for a wide selection of standard connection and cut types – including Face Cuts, Miter Cuts, Contour Cuts, Cope Cuts, Endplates, Miter Plates, Angle Connections, and Gussets.

Taking the Endplate as an example: once an endplate connection has been defined, AI-Connect can apply it in a single step to all identical installation situations within the assembly – without having to edit each connection individually. This saves considerable time on larger projects and ensures consistent execution of all equivalent connections.

Overhauled Settings Dialog (SolidSteel parametric & DSTV Assistant)

With version 2.3.0 and 1.3.0 respectively, the Settings dialog of both apps has been fundamentally redesigned. The goal was to create a more consistent look and feel and to make navigation more intuitive. Settings are now more clearly grouped and consistently labeled, allowing users to find what they need more quickly – regardless of which of the two apps they are currently using.

Bug Fixes


  • Resolved an issue that prevented weld assemblies from being created manually in certain cases

  • Fixed an issue that incorrectly prompted users to restart Inventor after any settings change

  • Weldment beads can now be used as external components within Custom Connections

  • Resolved an issue where the SDNF import did not correctly identify changes in certain cases
