Purlins EC

Roof purlins – quick and easy calculation according to Eurocode 3

Structural analysis of purlins

Whether

  • as a single-span or continuous beam

  • in an inclined position, at the edge or in the middle

  • with wind load or without

  • taking into account snow accumulation

  • with many other requirements not listed here

Purlins EC calculates and dimensions roof purlins within a very short time!

Purlins EC is standard-compliant.

Calculations and dimensioning are performed according to the current EuroCode standard by default, but can also be performed according to DIN 18800 if required.

Purlins EC is a product of the STAHL 2000 series and is available both as a stand-alone program and as part of the Program Packages Hall and Static Analysis.

Select the purlin type, enter some key data

and Purlins EC will do the rest for you!

Thanks to STAHL 2000's proven tab system, the calculation and dimensioning of the purlins is completed in a minimum of time.

How does Purlins EC work? Very simple!

You start the software, select a purlin type from the drop down menu and enter a few key data. Purlin EC does everything else for you!

As with all programs in the Stahl 2000 suite, the verification is carried out according to the current EuroCode 3 standard, but can also be carried out according to DIN 18800 on request.

One program - many possibilities

The program differentiates between the following purlin types:

  • Purlins

  • Eaves purlins

  • Eaves purlins (monopitch roof at the top)

Purlins EC calculates roof purlins either as single span beams or as continuous beams. The software automatically calculates eaves purlins as single span beams.

Purlins EC also automatically calculates wind loads. You can either select the wind velocity pressure value from a table or enter it manually.

The purlins are either rolled I-beams or welded I-beams.

Purlins EC – much more than standard features

In addition to the standard calculation specifications, Purlins EC offers a variety of additional options:

  • Purlins EC also considers and calculates snow accumulation due to higher roof areas.

  • Optionally, roof and eave purlins can be loaded with a compressive force from a bracing.

  • On request, Purlins EC activates the “North German Plain” verification.

  • To increase the calculated stability, Purlins EC optionally applies a torsionally flexible support through the roof cladding for the roof and eave purlins.

  • In addition to bearings in the weak axis, purlins can be supported by tension bars in the center of the span or at the third points.

Clear results and versatile output

The standard output system of STAHL 2000 is used to output the results.
You can preview the output on the screen, display graphics (system, influence lines) and output to a printer, PDF or Word document.

PTC Mathcad. An ideal tool.

With Mathcad you can easily create a calculation document with text, images and formulas. Similar to a text editor, but the formulas are automatically mathematically exact and the formula content is not just text, but variable values.

In our opinion, Mathcad is one of the most underrated programs and should not be missing in any engineering office!
