SolidSteel parametric Basic Webinar Content

The first part of the webinar will cover the basics of SolidSteel parametric's design capabilities, but will also briefly cover subsequent processes such as creating BOMs, exporting shop drawings, and generating DSTV NC data with the DSTV Assistant.

The example used in the webinar is a staircase design including railings. The design will take approximately 15 minutes to complete and the total webinar time is approximately 30 - 45 minutes.
The stair module is already included in the smallest package of SolidSteel prametric – the Engineering Package.

Stairs are a great example assembly because they show the basic features such as sections, connections and more, but also because the manual design of stairs and railings is a very time consuming task that can be significantly reduced by using SolidSteel.

In summary, the webinar will cover the following topics:

  • Steel design with SOLIDWORKS

  • Cutting functions

  • Joints

  • Stairs

  • Railings

  • Equation-driven templates

  • Parametric modifications

  • Identification of geometrically identical parts

  • Part number mapping

  • Bill of materials

  • Shop drawings

  • Exporting of DSTV NC data
