2D Framework EC

Software for structural analysis of any plane framework (according to EuroCode)

Calculate any planar frameworks

Whether you want to calculate the frame structure of a machine platform, a truss or a complex hall frame structure, 2D Framework EC is the ideal tool for you.

The program is very easy to use: define the members, define the supports, assign load cases – and you're done!

You get a complete structural analysis, including support forces, internal forces and dimensioning.

2D Framework EC is standard-compliant.

The calculation and dimensioning can be switched between DIN 18800 and EuroCode 3 with a simple mouse click.

2D Framework EC is a product of the STAHL 2000 series and is available both as a stand-alone program and as part of the Program Packages Hall and Framework.

Define frameworks and determine the most unfavorable load combination?

A matter of minutes with 2D Framework EC!

The operation of the 2D Frame EC software is very simple. The definition of members, supports, nodes, loads and load combinations is done in a few minutes.

The static system

The static system is the central element of any structural analysis. With 2D Framework EC, the definition of the static system is particularly easy.

The static system consists of a large number of individual members connected at nodes.
Each member must be assigned a length, a height, and a profile. You can choose whether the members are connected to the nodes in a rigid or hinged state. With a capacity of 1000 members, there is plenty of room for calculating large sets of members.

To determine the supports, any nodes can be fixed horizontally, vertically or with respect to rotation. Nodes can be supported rigidly or elastically.

Complete control - maximum flexibility:
You can graphically control the static system and make changes at any time. This allows you to stay on top of changes in requirements and specifications.

Entering Load Cases

The basis of the calculation is the definition of at least one load. Usually several basic load cases are defined, e.g. dead load, live load, wind load, snow load, etc.

2D Framerkw EC can be provided with member loads as trapezoidal or concentrated loads as well as nodal loads. Nodal loads can act either horizontally, vertically or as moments.

By assigning them to load groups, you can define loads as permanent loads, live loads or mutually exclusive loads. For example, you can enter the basic load cases "wind from left" and "wind from right" at the same time and the system will automatically use only the most unfavorable load case.

Especially helpful:

If required, the support forces of crane girders can be automatically taken over from the crane girder calculation. After selecting the corresponding beam number, a list of possible support force combinations appears. You have the option to select some or all load cases.

Define Load Combinations

Determining the decisive load combinations for the 2nd order theory calculation can be very demanding (depending on the initial situation).

For example: If there are many basic load cases, e.g. for a multi-bay hall with several cranes, the number of possible combinations can be extremely high.

2D Framework EC offers the possibility to perform the superposition of load cases with the results of the first calculation pass in advance.

You will only receive a list of the maximum internal forces or stresses and the corresponding load case combinations. After selecting individual load cases or even all load cases, these load spectra are used for the calculation according to the 2nd order theory.

Cooperation with framework programs

2D Frame EC is able to read and process data from Hall Frame EC and Pitched Roof Frame EC.

This allows you to automatically calculate a standard hall frame and then load and modify the structural system and the generated load cases in 2D Frame EC.

You can add a center column or a tension band, extend the frame with a canopy, or place an extension on the frame.
Alternatively, you can import the structural system and modify the existing load cases or add your own load cases.

Clear results and versatile output

The standard output system of STAHL 2000 is used to output the results.
You can preview the output on the screen, display graphics (system, influence lines) and output to a printer, PDF or Word document.

PTC Mathcad. An ideal tool.

With Mathcad you can easily create a calculation document with text, images and formulas. Similar to a text editor, but the formulas are automatically mathematically exact and the formula content is not just text, but variable values.

In our opinion, Mathcad is one of the most underrated programs and should not be missing in any engineering office!
